Description

We’re looking for a hardware engineering lead who can help scale our manufacturing to tens of thousands of units per month. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, is detail oriented, and is ready to grow into a larger role as our company scales.


We're currently shipping ~500 units / month, but we want to grow that by 10x in the next 6 months, and 50x in the next year. We have existing customers (large B2B fortune 500 companies) who are paying us for product and expanding us across multiple locations / globally.


Establishing testing processes and procedures & systems test engineer that can create system & subsystem level test plans to evaluate functional performance, reliability & robustness. This is a multi-faceted role that includes elements such as:

-Working with our contract manufacturers & operations leads to scale up production / manufacturing. Develop scripts, test programs, and procedures at the unit and system level to ensure we ship quality product consistently.

-Design & conduct tests of systems composed of software, hardware, and optical components

-Help support on-site deployments of products & network at customer locations (limited travel required)

-Design test scripts for the purpose of automatic test procedures for new software / firmware versions

-Document test results, test plans, and present to engineering & product teams along with recommended fixes & improvements

-Coordinate with cross-functional team

-Create & maintain records of test results & conclusions

-Coordinate test processes, including training new team members, providing project support, and scheduling.

-Write and review documentation related to testing processes & procedures


The successful candidate will be hands on. You should be comfortable with a soldering iron, a drill, and willing to get on a ladder.


Experience with embedded programming (firmware, wireless, microcontroller to full RTOS) is a huge plus. PCB & hardware design is also a nice-to-have. You should know your way around a Unix terminal.

Requirements

We're open to folks who are earlier in their careers and looking to get hands-on-experience at a rapidly growing startup company. You should be organized, comfortable working with autonomy, willing to ask questions when you hit a wall, and ready to dive into the weeds. Part of this role will include travel to on-site deployments, so you should be comfortable in speaking with end-users and customers. For the aspiring IoT product-manager, this is a great opportunity to get hands on experience and mentorship.


Note that this role will require occasional travel.
